P Visas Lawyer in Tampa

Visas for Athletes, Artists, & Entertainers

Different types of visas are available for members of certain groups or for visiting the United States for a specific purpose. P visas are non-immigrant visas that are available for traveling to the U.S. to perform in an athletic event or another form of entertainment. The process can take several months, but a knowledgeable Tampa P visas attorney can guide you through the process and make sure your visa application is filed properly. Gardiner Immigration P.A. has represented clients in immigration matters for more than two decades.

Types of P Visas

There are four different categories of P visas, depending on the individual and reason for travel. The specific length of time the visa will be valid depends on the duration of the events or performances. Once the authorized stay is ended, the individual is expected to depart the country voluntarily.

The four categories of P visas include:

  • P-1 Visa – This is offered to internationally recognized athletes, artists, entertainers, and members of entertainment groups.
  • P-2 Visa – Artists and entertainers may be eligible for this type of visa when engaged to perform under a reciprocal exchange program.
  • P-3 Visa – This type of visa is intended for culturally unique artists and entertainers. This includes entertainers coming to the United States to perform, teach, or coach under a culturally unique program.
  • P-4 Visa – The spouse or unmarried children under the age of 21 can request

There are steps that must be taken prior to the P visa worker entering the United States. These include filing a petition with USCIS and securing a written advisory opinion for the labor organization in the industry and applying for the visa. At Gardiner Immigration, our P visas attorney in Tampa and Plantation can help ensure that all requirements are met and paperwork completed.

Extending Your Stay

If the program, event, or activity extends beyond the time specified in the original petition, it may be possible to file for an extension for a period of up to five years. Grace Gardiner is an experienced Plantation immigration attorney helping clients who are seeking P visas or extensions.
